That's right, Avery and I are wanted women. The police showed up at our house today - asking questions. Here's the story: Avery and I ran errands today while Grace was at preschool. Our last stop was at Sally's Beauty Store to pick up some hair clips. Avery was done shopping and basically cried the whole time I was in there, so I tried to make it quick. While I was looking at something I overheard the cashier girl talking on the phone and telling someone that her wallet had been stolen while she was working. I felt so bad for her, she said everything was in there including her social security card. No one else was in the store when I got there and only one other person came in. But I could tell from her conversation that it had happened before I got there, and she had a suspicion that it was a Hispanic girl that was in earlier. I didn't think much about it. I just paid and told her I hoped her day got better. We went home and waited until it was time to get Grace. It was about time to leave so I let Kingsley out really quickly, but when I opened the door I saw a police officer coming up the walk. My heart literally stopped beating for a few seconds. I was afraid that he was coming to tell me that something had happened to either Grace or Scottie. But then he started asking me if I was at Sally's Beauty Store today. I said yes, and then he asked me if I saw anyone in the store. I was so nervous, I'm sure I sounded weird, but I couldn't believe the police were in my house. I told him what I saw and heard. He said that I was the only person that paid with a debit card and so I was the only name they had available. They have a surveillance tape, but they won't be able to view it until tomorrow. THEN he says "if you have it you can just give it back." I just stared at him for a second or two and then stuttered out, I...I ...don't have it. He said really low, "you don't?" Then he noticed Avery laying on a blanket on the floor. He asked if she had been with me in the store and I said yes. I thought - great, now he thinks I hid it in the baby carrier. He said that they would view the tape tomorrow and hopefully find the person who has it. I said that I hope so too because I feel really bad for the girl. It was such a strange experience. I felt that maybe he didn't believe me. When I got Grace from school I told her what happened and she said " did you take it mommy?" What the heck???!!! Well, just wait until they see the tape and then they will know I'm telling the truth. Why would I want to steal an 18 year olds identity? I'm sure my credit is better than hers! I really do hope they find it for her, having your wallet taken is a very scary thing. But I didn't do it - just in case you weren't sure. ;) (Do you like our wanted poster? Don't we look like criminals? Can you tell I only got three hours of sleep the night before?)

Precious Moments

I had one of these moments this afternoon. I had the goal of cleaning the living room while Grace was at school. As soon as Avery was done eating she had fallen asleep, so I thought I was actually going to achieve my one of my goals today. But as soon as I laid her down it took her all of 30 seconds to realize that someone wasn't holding her, and thus began the crying. :( Instead of becoming frustrated and crying along with her (because let's face it, it is really frustrating to never get things done due to a clingy baby) I decided to just go with the flow. I put on a quiet song and we danced around the living room. The song on my blog is the one I played while we danced. (you can pause it on the side if you don't want to listen to the music) I'm glad that I slowed down and danced with my new baby. It was a sweet moment, dancing with a sleeping little one. Although I did have to step over shoes, stuffed animals, and boxes of wipes. There will always be things to pick up around the house, dishes to do, laundry to wash and fold, and bathrooms to clean. But it's nice to stop and enjoy this time with Avery. Because I know all too well that they don't stay this little for long. I felt really blessed and peaceful this afternoon. Plus she fell asleep on the way home from picking up Grace, and stayed asleep long enough for me to clean up the living room. It all gets done eventually! :)

Here are some recent pictures. Poor Avery can't get a good shot of herself. Her face is either squished or looking funky. Especially the last one. It's like she is saying "you lookin at me?" Or as my friend Jessica from Evansville would say "you lookin at me or you chewin bricks? Cuz either way your teef are falling out!" You just had to know her to understand. Anyway, not the point of my post. --- I just wanted to share a few pictures while Avery is sleeping in her CRIB!!! I couldn't believe it. I had to call Scottie at work to let him know that she cried herself to sleep in less than ten minutes. This has NEVER happened in her 7 weeks of life. I almost don't know what to do with myself. Actually I do know what to do and that is clean. So I am going to get off of here before this dream ends!! :)

I'm really behind

That's the understatement of the year. I'm behind on everything, not just my blog. I have dishes to wash, bathrooms to clean, 6 or 7 baskets of laundry to fold (we always have clean clothes, they are just stuck in baskets right now). I just can't seem to get it all done. It's getting a little better, but I just want to feel decluttered! Oh well it can't last forever. Here's a picture of Grace and Avery on Christmas day. We had a quiet day at home and it was really nice. We had traveled to Scottie's parents the day before and were wiped out. But it was worth it to be able to see everyone. Next Christmas will be easier, hopefully we will be running on a little bit more sleep than this year. (Of course we forgot to take pictures while we were there. We have to get better about that!)

The next day we headed back to Indiana to visit my family. We took a picture of all of us with my grandma and grandpa. Of course Avery is crying in the picture that everyone else looks good in. Well... I can't say I look good. I was very tired and never had a chance to do anything with myself that morning. I guess it just comes with the territory of having a new baby. Isn't Wyatt the cutest baby? He just smiled and was so happy. He even tried to untie Curt's shoes while he was playing on the floor. We need to teach him how to tie the shoes together and let Curt trip when he walks. See - siblings never grow out of trying to bug one another.

I love this picture of mom and Avery. I can't believe how red her hair looks in this picture. I wonder if she will be a feisty redhead. I hope not, Grace is feisty enough and she has brown hair!!

Just laying back and chilling with Aunt Kelsey and Bella. She probably has chips in that cup. We are very strict on her snack choices. Yeah right, she is a chipaholic just like me. ( I think I just created a new word!!) It was nice to have Kelsey here from Florida. She even brought some of her warm weather. But that didn't keep Papa from starting a fire in the fireplace! We were roasting that night. I guess it doesn't feel like Christmas to him unless there is a nice fire going. Too bad we had some nice sweat rings to go along with it!

I'm bummed that we didn't get more pictures at the Jenkins family Christmas. I wasn't feeling very good that day, so I couldn't tell you what all went on. I was kind of in a daze while we were there. I do remember a Santa cake that had Santa going head first down a chimney and some lively comments about it! :) Here is a picture of Grace with her cousins. She has so much fun with them. It makes me wish we lived closer. Her and Chloe were hilarious together. They couldn't go to the bathroom without each other. They said "that's what ladies do, and you can't leave until the other one is done." They crack me up. We need to get them together more often.
Overall we had a nice but exhausting Christmas. Like I said, I think next year will be even better!
