Summer Relief

We talked Scottie into putting the pool up on Monday. It's just been too hot to go outside and play lately. We really needed our pool so both girls could play outside. I found this turtle float at Wal-Mart. It's great because Avery can float around without having the sun beating down on her. She really liked being in the pool. We eventually got out and sat on the deck so Grace could splash around. The pool isn't very big so she has to be careful around Avery. I liked getting in the water too. It's so hot right now! I have a feeling we are going to be in the pool a lot this summer. I might actually get a good tan this year! I know, I know, skin cancer - don't forget the sun screen. Don't worry, we're covered! :)

Happy Father's Day!

Grace and Avery with their daddy on Father's Day. These are two lucky little girls to have Scottie as their daddy. He loves his girls! Grace is so much like him, it's not even funny. Really, it's not funny. They can argue all day long if you let them. But you will never see a bigger daddy's girl. They wrestle together, sing off-key together , and laugh together. It is really something special to see them interact. Scottie does a better job of making things fun for her. I'm more focused on completing the task and moving on to the next. But he makes things like reading a lot more entertaining then I do. It's yet to be determined if Avery will be as big of a daddy's girl as Grace, but she most certainly loves her daddy like crazy. She always has a big smile for him when he walks in the door. The girls and I spent the weekend in Indiana this weekend, and when we got home she grinned from ear to ear and then reached out for him. Then she did the sweetest thing, she hugged him. Granted she was still sleepy from the ride, but you could tell it was a hug.

After going out to dinner (Kobe steak - daddy's choice) we played a game of Trouble. Avery ate sweet potatoes while we played, but she was focused on the game. It won't be long before she will be able to join us! :)

She really wanted to play!

Avery and Kinglsley begging for a sweet treat. We stopped by a pie shop in Terre Haute on our way home. Scottie loves their pie so we got him a piece of key lime for Father's Day. Our trip was part of his present as well. He has another part of boards coming up in July and really needs peace and quiet to study. So we went away for the weekend so he could study without all of our craziness! I hope he enjoyed his father's day. We love him very much. I feel blessed that my girls get to call him daddy! :)

Matching Dresses

We have searched for six months to find the girls matching clothes. I just think siblings look cute when they match. But I can never find anything in their sizes. If Avery had come a year or two earlier then there were be a huge selection of mathching clothes. Of course that was our plan, and everytime I find clothes in those sizes I get a little sad. I just want to yell in the store, "I didn't plan it this way, it's just how everything happened!!" But then I also think, I'm just blessed that Avery is here at all. When we were in Philidelphia the girls and I went shopping while Scottie took his test. There was a Carter's outlet store in the mall. I was so excited. We had been eyeing a green dress for Avery for a while now. She looks so good in green, but the dress cost $28.00. I don't care how good she looks, that is too much for a baby's dress. But the store had it for 70% off!!! We found a dress in Grace's size that matches an outfit that Avery already had at home. Then we found two matching dresses. Everything was 70% off! I almost went crazy, but I restrained myself. The girls look so cute in these dresses. They wore them to church on Sunday and then we took a walk. Avery held onto the stroller the entire time. She cracks me up. Aren't they the cutest??

At the Drive-In

I'm backtracking a little bit. I need to post the pictures from our trip, but there's too many to pick from and I'm tired. So I"ll share some pictures of our night at the drive-in. We went a couple of weeks ago. Gracie wanted to see the Disney movie "UP" and we had already discovered that taking Avery to the movie theatre isn't a good idea right now. But the drive-in was perfect. Within ten minutes of the movie starting she fell asleep and stayed asleep the entire time. Here's a picture of the girls in the back of the van waiting for the movie to start.

Halfway through the movie they started the longest intermission known to man. We got really bored. So we decided to take some pictures of ourselves. It started out as a sweet family picture moment. But....

we started getting silly.

Then it got crazy. It was a long intermission!

At this point I think people started staring at us. We were laughing so hard. It was a lot of spontaneous fun! The amazing part was that Avery never woke up. We had a good time, and I can't wait to go again.

On her way...

Avery is on the move - sort of. She has figured out how to scoot on her belly and push with her feet. We put the remote control in front of her, it is her favorite thing to play with, and waited to see how far she could go. It won't be long before she figures out how to get on her knees. Then we'll really be in trouble. Hide the remotes!!
